Inspired by the stories of Vietlish students with the first days of learning English with countless fears: fear of wrong speaking, fear of being judged, fear of speaking in front of many people, …

And day after day, that fear was gradually defeated. Practitioners gradually realize their inner strength and their strong belief in their abilities.

Thanks to the desire, challenge and change, many young people have disposed of the fear of communicating in English. Since then, Vietlish Co-spaces launched the English Speaking Contest “VIETLISH PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST” with the mission to spread the spirit of defeating fear – Beat down the fear, dare to change and develop English proficiency.

SPEAK OUT YOUR INNER VOICE

… is the topic of this year’s competition …

From the stories of the journey to understand, young people’s desire to assert themselves to find their value. However, through the lens and view of others, they put on the expectations and images that people paint. Instead of speaking out within themselves, they just shut up and listen to other people’s opinions.

No one calls their name, and they forget to call themselves.

To overcome these prejudices, many young people dared to challenge, stand up to find and speak up their inner voice. Therefore, Vietlish

Co-spaces launched the contest “VIETLISH PUBLIC SPEAKING 2019” with the mission to spread the spirit of “Listen to yourself, no matter who you are, what you are doing and thinking – Speak up.”

TARGET

• Spread the slogan: “Please raise your inner voice” – “Speak out your inner voice”.
• Spread the spirit of “learning spirit” and “community spirit”, spreading inspiration for English learners and students.
• Inspire, spread the optimism spirit to overcome prejudices to assert themselves, especially for young people.
• Create a playground for students – students to exchange and learn.
• Provide opportunities and knowledge to allow students to challenge themselves.

OBJECT

• Students at high schools and universities in Ho Chi Minh City are passionate about English.
• The desire to escape the guise of fear and self-expression, especially English rhetoric.

October 21, 2019 – December 8, 2019

CONTEST RULES

Registration round: REGISTRATION
From October 21, 2019 – November 4, 2019

Receive the application form by registering via the application form, answering the questions set by the organizer and attaching the video (video length of at least 3 minutes).

This round will eliminate the remaining 60 candidates to continue.

• Round 1: EXPRESSION
  From November 6, 2019 – November 20, 2019

Each contestant who passes the first round will present one of the two topics proposed by the organizer and the candidate will be prepared with a slide show in advance. The maximum presentation time for each candidate will be 5 minutes.

• Round 2: ELIMINATION
  From November 23, 2019 – November 27, 2019

The 30 finalists in the second round will be divided into 10 groups. 10 groups will debate with each other to choose 5 groups to go to the final round 3. Discussion topics will be set by the organizer and candidates will be prepared in advance.

• Round 3: EXPLOSION
  From November 28, 2019, to December 8, 2019

The final round will have 3 main rounds:

+ Each group eloquent about a real-life situation in society set out by the Organization Board and the group is prepared in advance (The group can play a role or create a unique style of each group).

+ Debate with the jury: Each group will answer questions about the rhetorical topic of each group in the first round given by the jury.

+ After the round of rhetoric and debate, BTC will eliminate the remaining 2 teams. The teams will proceed to raise their opinions and ideas on the topic proposed by the Organizers without prior preparation.

PRIZE STRUCTURE

The total value of prizes: 200,000 VND

Total cash value: 10 000 000 VND

Team prizes:

1. The Winner Team
2. First Runner Up
3. Second Runner Up

Individual prizes:

1. The Best Public Speaker
2. The Best Inner Voice
